Watching the news 24/7 and worrying can wear on a person, especially in this new normal we have with isolation and quarantine. We’ve rounded up some ways you can get off social media and take care of yourself and connect with others, even if you are social distancing.
- Call or FaceTime a friend or loved one –
Quarantine can be so isolating, especially with Easter coming up. We’ve seen some creative ways people are still getting together – virtual happy hour, Zoom friend get togethers, and FaceTime with Grandparents! Some friend groups are watching movies or tv shows together and group chatting while watching. It’s all about social distancing and connection!
- Play a Game –
Classic board games are back! Pull those games out of the closet and play as a family. Alone in quarantine? Check out this list of games you can play with friends on your phone or online! Many gaming systems like Nintendo Switch and Xbox have online play options.
- Learn a New Skill –
Learn to knit, crochet, juggle, just about anything you want to learn can be found on YouTube! CreativeBug is also a great site for craft tutorials. Want to learn how to plant a garden? Sew on a button? Now’s the time! Starting an online business or store? Let’s do it!
- Read a book –
Many libraries are closed, but there are still so many resources you can find online. Check with your local library, many have opened up online resources such as digital lending, movies and more. Kindle, Books on iTunes and Amazon for physical books are also great resources for books. Don’t forget the audiobooks!
- Bake –
Bake a tasty treat! Don’t want to eat it all for yourself? Share with a neighbor or friend! Don’t forget to practice social distancing when you deliver.
- Watch a new tv show or movie –
